In the premises of the Fondazione Cini, a small island in front of the world famous Piazza San Marco, the most active members of the Clif Consortium and other outstanding researchers from around the world attended the two-day Symposium entitled "The Acute-on-Chronic Liver Failure syndrome in cirrhosis".
The different topics selected by the Scientific Committee of the meeting provided the grounds for an outstanding level of discussions in issues ranging from basic physio-pathological aspects in ACLF, through regulatory standards for treatment approvals, to future guidelines on liver transplantation in ACLF. During the meeting there was also time to present the current achievements of the recently created Grifols Chair, devoted to performing translational research in liver diseases, particularly ACLF. The attendants were invited to a formal dinner on Friday 18 to enjoy an evening together, while sharing their impressions on the advances leaning to a best understanding of ACLF.
