The signature of the first collaboration agreement between Grifols and the Fundació Clínic per la Recerca Biomédica (FCRB, participated by the Universitat de Barcelona and the Hospital Clínic) on June 11th, 2009, provided the grounds and funds to establish an initial consortium constituted by 70 University Hospitals from all across Europe.
Ten years later, the EASL Clif Consortium is actively participated by 106 hospitals in 26 European Countries, has described a new syndrome called Acute-on-chronic liver failure and has published more than 70 scientific articles, considering original and revision papers. In order to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the EASL Clif Consortium, the EF Clif organized a great scientific event at its local headquarters in Barcelona, entitled "Finding and characterization of a new syndrome, acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF), in cirrhosis. A scientific (2013-2019) journey described by its protagonists". Members from Europe, North and South America attended the fantastic event. We are very grateful to our colleagues from the ACLARA study, who did a long journey to participate at the celebration. After the scientific meeting, the delegates moved to the newly inaugurated Grifols Museum, where the Grifols staff prepared a private and personalised visit for the guests. At the premises of the Museum, a dinner was held to commemorate the signature of the initial collaboration agreement between Grifols, the FCRB and Dr Vicente Arroyo in the same place where it was signed in 2009.
