Biological samples including blood, urine and saliva, and solid tissue from liver biopsy are routinely collected throughout our observational studies and biobanked for a variety of omics applications.
We are users of the Biomat Biorepository and the Biobank at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona–Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS) to store large prospective collections of biological specimens within our clinical trials. This scheme offers unique opportunities for researchers to use collected samples to answer specific research questions when funding is available to them to conduct further analyses. We facilitate validation of biomarkers to aid the development of therapeutics and clinical trial end points for chronic liver disease for the benefit of current and future patients.
