The problem

My research activity focuses on two complementary topics:

  • on a clinical ground, the management of patients with decompensated cirrhosis and the treatment and prevention of complications of end-stage liver disease;
  • on a translational perspective, the understanding of pathophysiological mechanisms underlying liver cirrhosis, its complications, acute decompensation and acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) development.
