Cirrhosis is known to have a high prevalence and mortality worldwide, especially for those decompensated cirrhosis with portal hypertension. A certain amount of patients deteriorate with known or unknown precipitants, and develop acute-on-chronic liver failure, which has a high short-term mortality.
