The motivation behind applying for the membership of the prestigious EASL-CLIF Consortium resides in our continuous strive for improving the quality of care to our patients suffering from end-stage liver disease. As a tertiary referral hospital with relatively high inflow of patients with advanced chronic liver disease, originating from middle and northern regions of Romania, we take pride in providing a complex series of techniques for evaluating and treating liver diseases (i.e., transient elastography, transjugular liver biopsy, transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS)). The recent introduction of a transplant program at our institution opens new avenues in terms of national/international collaborations. All the above considered, the adherence to the EASL-CLIF Consortium will expand these collaborations and add high value to our research.
The nomination of our center for the membership of EASL-CLIF Consortium enables us to contribute with patients’ data and biospecimens to multicenter prospective studies sponsored by EF CLIF. This will increase the robustness of data collection in our center and will contribute to build a biobank of patients’ biological material to be further used in connected studies. Furthermore, exploring potential new therapies for patients with end-stage liver disease in multicenter randomized controlled trials, in which EASL-CLIF Consortium will be “the tip of the spear”, will bring new therapeutic options and hope to our patients.
