His leadership and dedication to hepatology research continue to push the boundaries of innovation in the field, particularly through his work on complications of cirrhosis (i.e., portal hypertension, decompensation and ACLF), which have significantly advanced our understanding of chronic liver disease and its treatment.
Prof. Dr. Trebicka’s contribution to the field is reflected in his extensive publication track record on chronic inflammation, genetic mechanisms and intracellular signaling in liver diseases, as well as his editorial roles with leading journals such as Journal of Hepatology, Liver International, and Hepatology Communications.
A longstanding member of the EF CLIF community, Prof. Dr. Trebicka served as the principal investigator of the PREDICT study, which identified four patterns of acute decompensation of cirrhosis and refined the definition of ACLF, and coordinates the EU-funded MICROB-PREDICT project, a pivotal study aimed at identifying novel biomarkers and therapeutic strategies for chronic liver disease. Since 2014, he has served as a member of the EASL-CLIF Consortium Steering Committee, contributing to collaborative research initiatives across Europe. Within EF CLIF, he also holds the role of Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board.
It is an honor to contribute to such an important institution supporting patients, clinicians, and researchers in the field of decompensated cirrhosis and ACLF. At the same time, this is a significant challenge for me to stay ahead of advancements in this rapidly evolving field.
In the coming years, EF CLIF aims to drive global progress in the field by collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including patient’s associations, research institutions, healthcare organizations, and the pharmaceutical industry, to advance the understanding of chronic liver disease, improve disease management, and ensure patient-centered care.
