Dr. Vanessa Legry, Project Manager, and Mr. Simon Debaecker, Head of the Cellular Biology Platform at GENFIT, provided an overview of the company’s pipeline, which targets rare and life-threatening liver diseases. They also introduced the rationale and early findings of a new collaborative project led by Professor Joan Clària, Head of Translational Operations at EF CLIF.
During their presentation, Dr. Vanessa Legry and Mr. Simon Debaecker shared the GENFIT’s transformation journey since its establishment, detailing how its focus shifted towards leveraging cutting-edge science to target liver diseases. They also provided an overview of the rationale and preliminary findings of a joint research project with EF CLIF, coordinated by Professor Joan Clària and supported by his team at the Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS), Barcelona, Spain.
“This collaboration offers a unique opportunity to combine our expertise in preclinical models of acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) with GENFIT’s innovative approaches to liver diseases, advancing our shared commitment to promoting translational liver research”, said Professor Joan Clària, emphasizing the significance of the joint endeavor.
The research initiative will be carried out within the framework of the longstanding collaboration between EF CLIF and IDIBAPS, aligning with EF CLIF’s mission to accelerate translational studies aimed at improving patient care. This project aims to generate impactful insights into the development of novel drug treatments for patients at risk of ACLF further strengthening the recently announced partnership between EF CLIF and GENFIT and their role as leaders in advancing the understanding and treatment of chronic liver disease.
Attending the presentation were members of the Data Management Center at EF CLIF, Professor Joan Clària’s laboratory team, and Professor Richard Moreau (Director of EF CLIF) who discussed next steps in the collaboration. Both parties expressed their enthusiasm for the project’s potential to yield transformative results for patients worldwide.
