International Day of Women and Girls in Science: Rosa Martín-Mateos

Meet Rosa Martín-Mateos, MD, PhD, Consultant at Hospital Universitario Ramón y Cajal and Researcher at Universidad de Alcalá – Instituto Ramón y Cajal de Investigación Sanitaria (IRYCIS), CIBERehc, Instituto de Salud Carlos III, Spain, and member of our Inspiring and Writing Group.
In celebration of International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we want to raise awareness of the work of women in hepatology and inspire the next generation of budding scientists.

“As a child, I was fascinated to know how things worked. Later, as a doctor, this interest moved to investigate disease and healing mechanisms, which is essential to advance towards better patient care and treatment”, says Rosa.

She carries out clinical and translational research on alchol-related liver disease, metabolic-associated fatty liver disease, and acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) with a strong interest in liver transplantation.

Rosa is Governing Board member of the Asociación Española para el Estudio del Hígado (AEEH) and has recently been appointed member of the Inspiring and Writing Group at EF CLIF.
