With vast leadership experience and a strong track record of publications, Prof. Jalan is the Coordinator of two EU-funded projects within the framework of the Horizon 2020 research and innovation program, CARBALIVE and ALIVER, raising more than €12 million in grant funding. He was a founder member of the EASL-CLIF Consortium and has been involved with EF CLIF ever since.

Prof. Jalan will joins the Executive Scientific Committee in March 2020 with the ambition of providing leadership to investigate the clinical course of cirrhosis, the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms of chronic liver disease, and novel therapeutic approaches to improve survival and quality of life of patients with acute decompensation of cirrhosis and ACLF. He will take an active role to consolidate the influence of EF CLIF in leading, re-defining, and performing research in chronic liver disease. In his new role, Prof. Jalan takes the challenge to harmonize definitions and treatment paradigms, which will necessarily evolve with the advancement of knowledge about chronic liver disease.
